- In a 150 mL beaker, dissolve 2 g of polyvinyl
alcohol into 50 mL of distilled water, heating the
whole for 20 minutes at 60° (until some foam appears)
- Add a few drops of the dye of your choice (methylene
blue, fluorescein, heliantin, bromocresol green…)
- Pour an aqueous solution containing 0.2 g of sodium
tetraborate (borax) decahydrate into 5 mL of water
while stirring vigourously with a glass stirrer.
