Experimental method

 
  • In a 400 ml beaker placed under a hood, pour 100 ml of a 30% oxygenated water aqueous solution.
  • Add 5 drops of dish soap, and then the tip of a scoopula of a dye of your choice: erythrosine (pink), fluorescein (yellow), or diamond green (purple).
  • Pour into the beaker 3 ml of a potassium iodide - saturated aqueous solution.

CAUTION : It is important to work under a hood, as this reaction produces diiodo. Moreover, 30% oxygenated water must be manipulated wearing gloves and safety goggles.
